Is anyone here a working model with advice for someone getting started?

I've never done this before and I found an agency with a workshop to teach me some things...I'm just concerned about if I have what it takes. I'm a new mom, so I'm not in the best shape of my life and I have some little things to work on, does that effect my chances of getting started? Is anyone here a working model with advice for someone getting started?
I was a model in my early college years, and it depends on whether you're talking fashion or commercial modeling. Either way, looks matter most, obviously.

Briefly, I was a commercial model, and my best years were 17-19 because I could ';play'; 14-16 perfectly (and because I had long hair then that worked best with the look they wanted me to portray --- kind of All American Teen). I made beyond-decent money, but never did any nationals or anything really that interesting to speak of (a little catalogue, a box of hair dye, a lot of trade shows).

I wasn't really that into it, and when my work started to dry up after a haircut, I just kind of moved on. Commercial modeling has room for all sorts of people, but you have to fit your look perfectly. There are a few key ';looks'; needed.

Fashion models are skinny, tall, and have a very certain look. They also usually start between the ages of 15 and 22. Being out of shape definitely affects your chances, I'm sorry to say.

Good luck. And please, please, please be sure your ';agency'; is reputable. If they're charging you for the workshop, they're probably not and they're just out for your money. Is anyone here a working model with advice for someone getting started?
BE CAREFUL CAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF RIPOFF AGENCIES...IF THEY WANT YOU TO PAY A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY UP FRONT THEN THERE B*llSH**....A GOOD AGENCY THATS SEES SOMETHING IN YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR PORTFOLIO, ETC AND TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR FUTURE PAYCHECKS(THAT MEANS THEY ACTUALLY THINK YOU WILL GET WORK)...TRUST ME THERES TOO MANY RIPOFF AGENCIES OUT THERE
