HELLO, i am moving further out of town about 20 miles outside of Pensacola Fl, and i am trying to figure out what it is going to take for me to pick up the internet till i can have cable run to my house i don't know if i need a WIFI card for my lap top or what to buy. so if there is anyone who can point me in the right direction i would be thankful PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO GET MY SEVICE GOING THANKS SO MUCHHave Dell latitude laptop Need advice on getting internet in rural area till i get service put in?
looks like att is your local service provider.
call them and ask if dsl if available from your new house.
give them the phone number and they can prequalify the line.
normally you would need to be within 3-4miles of the central office or remote terminal site which houses the dslam equipment.
you can also look into getting dsl via your wireless provider, but i am not sure of the bandwidth available or the cost. you would need a card to plug into your laptop also. it would probably be cheaper to go landline or cable dsl if you use the internet alot.
