Webcam advice ,cannot get connected for more than a few seconds before screen freezes?

I have purchased a microsoft lifecam vx 3000 to enable me to speak and see my daughter in Australia through using Skypp.However, I only manage to see the picture and hear voice for seconds and then whole screen freezes I cannot use mouse and have to shut down computer and re-start,I miss my daughter and really want to find an answer to this problem, that I can see her and speak , the instructions say this webcam is compatible with Skypp please please try and help. I think the problem is that your camera has a very high bandwidth setting, eg. it sends maximum data via USB which overwhelms your PC. Mine does the same thing, although it doesn't always freeze, just goes very jerky and doesn't respond. There should be a tray icon (right of start bar) that looks like a camera. Right click it, you should get a menu. find the settings panel and there should be a USB bandwidth slider.

on Skype there may be a settings panel available (i've never used Skype) which should have Video Filter settings. Hope this helps!
